Position Control
Position Control is the process of controlling Position allocations as determined by the annual budget. The Regulation of PCN (HRTBRG) page gives school districts the capability to determine the amount of allowable FTE and/or dollars that can be associated with a position. Finance departments use this tool to keep allocation decisions in alignment with the actual workforce allocations created throughout a fiscal year. As an added benefit, position control allows the account code information to default into the wage assignment screen, keeping the data accurate and saving the HR department time.
Control Options
The Position Control Number (PCN) is a number assigned to the employee, and in turn, used to determine how many positions or funds are budgeted and available. Position Control has four main options for how control can be set up for the position structure:
00 Don't perform Budget Checking
01 Budget by FTE
02 Budget by AMOUNT
03 Budget by AMOUNT and FTE
School Districts have the capability to set the controls at a very aggregate or detailed level for how the positions, control numbers and funding source is handled. Examples of how this could work within your district are stated below.
