Setting Up Timecard Groups for Timecard Online
For Timecard Online, employees are classified into user-defined groupings. A Group Code is assigned to each employee master record. Group Codes are often referred to as Part1 and Part2.
Part 1 and Part 2
The actual column names for the group codes is py_emp_part1 and py_emp_part2, i.e., the Part1 and Part 2 fields on PYUPEM > Dates/Other Info tab.
Part1 is central to the timecard process. It is the basis for timecard security and group settings (configurations). Clients should take care in the design of their Part1 codes. Good planning here is essential to success.
For clients using base HR as a front-end to Payroll, Part1 (and a second code Part2) are populated as employee information flows from HR into PY through HRPY/TCPARTS common code settings, either globally or at the Entity level.
HRPY/TCPARTS Common Code
The HRPY/TCPARTS common code is used to define Timecard Online Part 1 and Part 2 groups.
Associated Code (1) and Associated Code (2) are used for Part1 (primary timekeeping group).
Associated Code (3) and Associated Code (4) are used for Part2 (sub-group).
In the example below:
Part 1 = DEPARTMENT
Part 2 = TYPE
The user may concatenate two attributes for each PART by assigning a second attribute to Associated Code (2) for Part1 and Associated Code (4) for Part2. They may also substring each attribute by putting (for example) 1,4 in the Associated Description. The value 1,4 means start in position 1 for a length of 4 characters.
In the following example, Part1 = Employee Type & first 4 characters of Department and Part2 = Education Code 1:
Associated Code (1) = TYPE
Associated Code (2) = DEPARTMENT 1,4
Associated Code (3) = EDUC_CD01
Associated Code (4) = blank

Set the Timecard Groups
After the common code HRPY/TCPARTS is set up in NUUPCD, then Part1 and Part2 will populate automatically in Payroll when the record is created, updated, and saved on the HR pages.
During the initial implementation of Timecard Online, it may be necessary to run the Employee Master Global Utility to send this information to Payroll. To display Part1 and Part2 in Timecard Online, slide the Entity List to the right.
This information exists in the table and attributes hr_pe_mstr.py_emp_part1 and hr_pe_mstr.py_emp_part2 and may be reported in CDD.
