Rebuild Security
The Rebuild Security plugin in the Administrative Console (Security Admin > Setup) is used to interactively rebuild BusinessPlus security for one or more users or roles. This is necessary whenever changes are made to the underlying security structures, the security roles, or the role assignments. Security changes are enforced by BusinessPlus until the rebuild has been performed for all affected users.
Unlike the Rebuild User and Rebuild Role tools, this method does not use the Workflow engine to process the request in the background as a BusinessPlus job. Instead, the rebuild is performed immediately. Note that rebuilding a role will also rebuild any users assigned to that role so it is not necessary to select both a role and the users assigned to it with this tool.
Select Users
The following options are available under the Select Users button on the top menu bar:
- Select All Users — Selects every BusinessPlus user in the system. Note that rebuilding all users, or any large set of users, will take a significant amount of time.
- Find/Search — Presents the Select Users dialog. Three search methods are available:
- User ID: Enter a partial or full BusinessPlus user ID.
- User Name: Enter a partial or full BusinessPlus user name.
- Security Role: Select a security role from the drop-down list.
To make a selection, enter a value in the search fields and click Apply. To include only the users whose definitions have been modified since their last rebuild, check the "Modified users only" box.
Users are selected within the Search Results grid. Multiple users can be selected by holding down the Ctrl key while selecting individual users, or by holding down the Shift key to select a range of users. Click OK to return to the main Rebuild Security page.
- Clear User List — Remove all users from the currently selected list.
Selected users are loaded into the "Selected Users/Roles" window. To remove a user from this window, select the user and click the Remove button.
Press the Rebuild button to rebuild currently selected user(s). Ensure the rebuild job is marked Completed. If the Jobs panel is not displayed, select the Jobs menu option in the lower left corner of the screen to monitor the job status.
Select Roles
The following options are available:
- Select All Roles — Selects every security role in the system. Rebuilding all roles, or any large set of roles, will take a significant amount of time.
- Select Changed Roles — Selects those roles that appear to be outdated based on the update and rebuild dates for the role.
- Find/Search — Presents the Select Roles dialog. Two search methods are available:
- Role ID: Enter a partial or full Role ID.
- Role Title: Enter a partial or full Role Title. To include only the roles whose definitions have been modified since their last rebuild, check the "Modified roles only" check box.
To search, enter a value in the search fields and click Apply. The matching list of roles is displayed in the Search Results grid. Click a role to select it. Multiple roles can be selected using the Ctrl key to select individual roles, or the Shift key to select a range of roles. Click OK to return to the main Rebuild Security page.
- Clear Role List — Remove all roles from the currently selected list.
Selected roles are loaded into the "Selected Users/Roles" window. To remove a role from this window, select the role and click the Remove button.
Press the Rebuild button to rebuild currently selected role(s). Verify the security rebuild completed successfully in the Jobs panel.
