View Log

The "View Log…" Tools option displays the View Current Log dialog containing log information on the currently attached Workflow model instance record from the last time the Workflow engine ran it through the Workflow model. This information is more detailed than Workflow history; it includes trace information that is automatically generated.

The following types of information are available when viewing log information:

  • Info - The next level of information that includes the Workflow model-specific processing steps including Transition and Activity execution.
  • Fatal - The highest level of information, which the user should not see unless major errors have occurred during processing by the Workflow Engine.
  • Verbose - The simplest level that includes most standard processing steps found within each Workflow model.
  • Warning - The level of information includes warnings that may not impact processing, but warrant looking into.

Display previous WF Instance Log: When checked, the log from the previous pass through the Workflow model is displayed.
Refresh: Displays the most current instance log. If a Workflow instance record is currently being processed, no information is displayed in the results window and a message appears at the top of the window saying: "Processing Instance. Current Log Unavailable." When processing is completed, selecting the Refresh button displays the updated log.

Level: Indicates the level of the information for the Workflow Log entry.

ID: Source of the log message.
Result: Indicated the processing result.
Comment: Actual log message. This can be the result of a transition test, activity action or just a simple statement (e.g., Start – Work Flow Started).
