Calc Codes
PowerSchool will review state and federal tax calculations for any changes in the new tax year. Any necessary tax calculation formula changes will be included in the Year-End BusinessPlus Release download, in the form of calc code files. A list will be provided for all affected states, file names, and descriptions. The new tax calc code files should be installed in the PERM directory of the Application/job server.
Be aware that each year some states announce very late changes that do not make it into the Year-End release. As additional changes become available, updated calc codes and tax tables will be posted.
For each of the modified state tax calc codes included in the Year-End release, perform the following:
- Determine if any of the listed tax calculations apply to your site. For those that apply, obtain a listing of the calculation code currently in use and compare with the new calc code. Be aware that the calc codes sent in the Year-End release are BusinessPlus standard calc codes and not necessarily the ones in place at your site. Carefully review the new calc codes before making a decision about loading at your site.
- Before replacing any calc codes, as a precaution, download the current one in use and save under an archive name for recovery purposes. Consult with your IT department to set up archive procedures.
- Mask PYUTCU (Unload Calc Codes) will prompt for a CDH number range and prefix (default is "CDH"). You may specify a single CDH number or a range. Separate files will be created for each CDH specified.
- To load a new calculation code from a file, use menu mask PYUTCL (Load Calc Codes). Another method is to copy and paste the changes from the file.
