Tax Tables - W2
Tax tables are no longer supplied as part of the year-end release. They will be available as a .csv (comma separate) file for customers to download prior to the release. Use the menu PYTXWI to import tax tables from the latest .csv file. As updated federal and state tax tables are made available from their respective agencies, updated information will be posted on PowerSource. Districts may use the file provided by PowerSchool or update the tax tables themselves.
The provided .csv file is downloaded from PowerSource at https://support.powerschool.com under Support > Downloads > BusinessPlus > 20YY Year End and runs through PYTXWI. Users will be given the option of what tax table to load: Federal, Levy, or an individual state. A report is available to compare current system values to what is provided in the file.
Tax tables can be imported and exported separately using masks PYTXWI and PYTXWE.
Once downloaded and installed, the new tax tables should be verified for accuracy by consulting the current IRS Publication 15-T and any corresponding state regulations.
All tax tables are stored in a series of PYTX/xxxxxxxx common codes (NUUPCD) for each tax year. The Code value depends on whether it is federal or state tax table related. Federal tax table values all begin with "FEnn" (where "nn" represents the 2-digit tax year). State tax table values begin with "xxnn" (where "xx" is the state abbreviation and "nn" is the tax year).
Be aware that some states announce very late changes that do not make it into PowerSource before the Year-End release. Updated Tax Tables for those late changes will be posted to the PowerSource as soon as we become aware of them.
