Zip Code Translation - PEUPZP
The Person/Entity (PE) Zip Code Translation (PEUPZP) page is the primary location to define the city, state, country, and zip codes for all subsystems, and is a short-cut process to looking up city and state information. The page is comprised of a main page and a variable list of all acceptable city names for the zip code. The Zip Code database table can either be inserted/updated using the Zip Code Translation page or the Zip Code interface process and a file from the U.S. Postal Service. For more information on using the interface process, contact BusinessPlus Customer Services.
Main Window
Zip Code: Up to 14 characters that uniquely identify the zip code. Different countries treat zip codes differently. If the zip code entered contains a " / ", the characters before the " / " will appear before the city, and the characters after the " / " will appear after the city. For example, if Hamburg is entered as the city and 100/200 is entered as the zip, "100 Hamburg 200" will be printed on reports.
City: Enter the name of the city, up to 20 characters. Even though the field can hold up to 28 characters maximum, it is best practice to keep all names to a length of 20 or less because this table is also used by the HR (AO) subsystem, where the city field is only 20 characters in length. City names larger than 20 characters will be truncated in the HR subsystem and may cause unnecessary error messages when being validated.
State: A two-character code representing the state. Code values are defined on the NU Common Codes, with a Category/Value of PEST/XX (where XX is the two-character state code) and enter the state's name in the Medium Description.
County Name: Enter up to 26 characters that is the name of the county.
County ID: Enter up to three characters that is the county ID.
Acceptable City Names: Because a zip code can span to more than one city, this is a list of acceptable other city names that use the same zip code. For example, the zip code of 95928 is designated for the cities of Chico and Butte Creek, California. In this case, either Chico or Butte Creek would be entered into the City field and the other name in the Acceptable City Names list.
