Creating New EO Users

NUUTNU

The Nucleus subsystem contains a tool called Create New User IDs (menu mask NUUTNU) which automatically creates NU user accounts (us_usno_mstr) from employee HR records (hr_empmstr). Employees can be migrated using a variety of selection methods and criteria.

Module you want to create Nucleus IDs for: To create new Employee Online user IDs, select EO from the drop-down.
How would you like your employees selected? Select one of the following options: ID—Select by ID, PC—Select entire pay cycle, SC—Select by Selection Criteria.
User ID to use as a template: Enter the user ID of the template user you create. See below for more information.
Do you want to run in Trial Mode - Report Only? It is highly recommended to run NUUTNU in trial mode first to ensure only targeted records are updated. In trial mode, no changes are made to the database, only the report is created.

Required Common Codes

Configure the following common codes before you create your new user accounts:

Template User

The NUUTNU utility creates new Nucleus users based on rules defined on a template user.

In Manage Users:

  • Select the + (Add new) button to create a new record for the template user.
  • In the header of the new record, select a Status of "P" to force a change of password.
  • On the Associations tab, add an EMPLOYEE association: Press the + (Add new) button at the bottom of the Associations page, select EMPLOYEE from the Code value drop-down (available options are defined in common code NUAS/xxxxxxxx), and leave the Value field blank.

Employees must be given an initial password with which to log on (SSN or employee ID). An organization will have to determine how to generate these initial passwords and communicate them to the employees.

The utility will copy all of the Template User's information, EXCLUDING the following:

  • us-no (user number) which is newly generated if this is a new employee.
  • us-id is set to the new ID of the selected user.
  • us-pw and us-pwhex are set to the determined password.

The us-pw-dt value is set to five years prior to the current date. This is done so that if a password duration is specified, it will automatically require the user to reset their password upon initial login and every time that duration is met.

If the NU user is new, NUUTNU copies all associations of the template user to the new user.  If the user is already defined, the utility will copy any missing associations to the user's us_usno_mstr record.
