GL Posting

Posting Strategies

Fixed Assets does not use Posting Preferences (GLUTSPPP). Posting codes for Depreciation are derived from the Primary Class pages (FAUPPC). These are defined based on the combination of Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Class codes (lowest-level combination). Additions, Deletions, and Transfers all derive posting codes based on rules defined in NU Default Rules (NUUPDF).

On the following sample Class definition, there is no Tertiary Class, Secondary Class AFVF (Film), which is also part of Primary Class AV, will use Posting Code "01."

NUUPDF shows that posting codes are derived based on the Object code.

Posting Processes

Once the posting codes are assigned, the following Subsystem Interface pages (GLUTSPSI) control the account numbers that will be used during the process of posting to the General Ledger. Fa_trans records have a "type" field that is used to identify the type of transaction. New assets will have a type of "ADDS," disposed assets will have a type of "DISP" and transfers will have a type of "TSFR."

FA/ADDS

The FA/ADDS page will post Additions to the General Ledger.

FA/DISP

The FA/DISP page controls posting of disposals to the General Ledger.

FA/TSFR

The FA/TSFR page controls posting transfers to the General Ledger.

Depreciation is posted when depreciation is processed (FADPDS).

Additions, Disposals, and Transfers are posted using FAUTPT. The "Posting Date" is the date the entries will have in the General Ledger. The "Beginning date" and "Ending date" are selection criteria for what will be read from the FA_Trans records. This date may be the date the entry was created (disposals or transfers) or the invoice post date (additions). The process can be limited by the type of transaction by selecting the appropriate check boxes.
