Course Codes - HRPDUPCC

The Professional Development (PD) Codes (HRPDUPCC) page allows an Administrator to define shared data that will be utilized throughout the Professional Development module. The following tabs are available to define the shared data: Category Codes, Proficiency Codes, Cost Codes, Topic Area Codes, Evaluation Questions, Miscellaneous, Rooms, and Employee Type Mapping.

Cat Codes

The Category Codes tab is used to create category codes that may be used to group different Proficiency codes together. If trying to delete a Category Code used in a Proficiency Code (Prof Codes tab) record, the request will fail and an error message will display.

Category Code: Eight-character alpha/numeric field used to identify the category code value.
Description: Sixty-character description of the category code.

Prof Codes

The Proficiency Codes tab is used to create the proficiencies that will be met when a course is taken. Codes are assigned on the Course Definition, Prof Goals page. Optionally, the Proficiency Code can be linked with a higher-level Category Code for tracking and reporting purposes.
If trying to delete a Proficiency Code used in a Course Definition, Prof Goals record, the request will fail and an error message will display. The code needs to be deleted/cleared from each course definition record before it can be deleted here.

Proficiency Code: Eight-character alpha/numeric field used to identify the proficiency code value.
Category Code: The category code to which this proficiency code belongs. Categories are defined in the Category Codes tab.
Description: Sixty-character description of the proficiency code.

Cost Codes

The Cost Codes tab is used to create cost codes that are used for identifying specific types of costs associated with a course. These costs are not the costs the participants would pay but rather a way for tracking internal costs. For example, Instructor or Facility costs. Use the Course Definition page to assign the cost codes to a particular course.

Cost Code: Eight-character alpha/numeric field used to identify the cost code value.
Description: Sixty-character description of the cost code.

Topic Area Codes

The Topic Area Codes tab is used to create topic area codes that are used for grouping courses into topic areas of study. These are used when a participant would like to search for a specific type of course like Language or IT type courses. Use the Course Definition page to assign the topic area code to a particular course.

Topic Area Code: Eight-character alpha/numeric field used to identify the topic area code value.
Description: Sixty-character description of the topic area code.

Eval Q's

The Evaluation Questions tab is used to define questions and their associated response type that are asked to participants to evaluate a course. Use the Course Definition page to assign the evaluation question to a particular course.

Question ID: Eight-character alpha/numeric field used to identify the evaluation question.
Question: Two-hundred and fifty-character alpha/numeric field used as the question text to be displayed during the evaluation of a course.
Response Type: The type of response a participant can give when answering this evaluation question. There are three different response types:
N = Numeric Rating – define the Low and High Rating to provide the participant with the rating scale (see next field definitions). For example: On a scale from 1 (unlikely) to 5 (very likely) would you recommend this course to others?
T = Free Form Text – participant can type their response. For example: What learning objectives did you meet?
Y = Yes/No selection – For example: Would you like to see more courses like this?
Low Rating: Numeric field used as the lowest possible rating a participant can use when answering this evaluation question. This field is only editable when the Response Type is set to N (Numeric Rating).
High Rating: Numeric field used as the highest possible rating a participant can use when answering this evaluation question. This field is only editable when the Response Type is set to N (Numeric Rating).
Default Question: This checkbox determines whether the question is added automatically to a new course upon creation in PD Course Definition (HRPDUPCD). All evaluation questions marked as Default Question will be added to a course when a new course is created. The questions will be ordered by the Question ID value.

Misc

Miscellaneous tab is used to define miscellaneous codes that can be used to associate any custom codes to courses. For example, you can build a list of Equipment items for the instructor to choose from so that facility management can be informed about the training room setup needs. These codes are tied to miscellaneous type codes defined in HR Non-Entity Specific Codes (HRTBHR) page, with a Code ID PD_MISC_TYPE. Use the Course Definition page to assign the miscellaneous code to a particular course.

Miscellaneous Type: The Type that this miscellaneous code belongs to. Miscellaneous types are defined in HR Non-Entity Specific Codes (HRTBHR), with a Code ID PD_MISC_TYPE.
Miscellaneous Code: Eight-character alpha/numeric field used to identify the miscellaneous code value.
Description: Sixty-character description of the miscellaneous code.

Rooms

For each defined location (Locations are defined in Person/Entity (PE) Information (PEUPPE)), a room list can be created. When courses are set up with Room assignments, the Professional Development module can alert when there are scheduling conflicts. Use the Course Definition page to associate a room to a particular course within the location.

Location: This drop-down lists the locations. Locations are defined in PE Information where Select Code 1 equals "PDLCTN". The room being defined is always associated with a location.
Room Code: Code for the Room being defined.
Description: Description for the Room being defined.

Emp Type Mapping

Employee Type Mapping tab is used to match Employee Types with Course Types. Not every course is available for all employees. For example, certain courses should only be available for Certified employees. By defining Course Types, and mapping these Course Types to Employee Types, the Professional Development module can control which courses are presented to which employee types. When a course is not identified with a Course Type, it will be presented to all employee types. Use the Course Definition page to assign the course type to a particular course.

Entity: As Employee Type is entity specific, select the entity from the drop-down.
Employee Type: This drop-down lists the Employee Types for the selected Entity from Entity drop-down. Employee Types are defined in HR Entity Specific Codes (HRTBCE) page, with a Code ID EMPLOYEE_TYPE.
Course Type: This drop-down lists the Course Types. Course Types are defined in HR Non-Entity Specific Codes (HRTBHR), with a Code ID PD_COURSE_TYPE.
