Job Position Definition - PYUPJB

The Payroll (PY) Job/Position Definition (PYUPJB) page is used to define Job Classifications within the Payroll system, as well as various positions within a Job Classification. Each job is defined as a master definition record, which has a unique code that cannot be duplicated. Attached to the master record is the position definition detail record. Depending on the date range in the Begin and End fields, multiple entries with the same position code, yet different characteristics (e.g. supervisor name), may be used.

Values in this list are defined on the NU Common Codes (NUUPCD) page, with a Category/Value of PYWC/enter a one to four character value of what is to be recognized as valid. In the first Associated Numeric Value field, enter the rate to be used in the calculation of the Worker's Compensation calculation for all pay entries associated with the given Code Value; and, in the Description (1) field, enter up to 30 characters describing the type of job being referenced.

If the NU Common Code is set to calculate total FTE, this value will be updated every time the page is changed. In the Short Description field, enter "DERIVEFTE" to cause the system to display the total FTE for all positions within a particular job.
Salary Grade: A code that specifies the Salary Grade table associated with this Job and thereby links jobs/positions with salary information. Codes in this list are defined in the PY Salary Grade Definition (PYUPGD) page.

If the Position is always active, leave this field blank. Keep in mind that the dates can only be blank if there is one record associated with a position.
