Potential Assets

The Fixed Assets (FA) Potential Assets (FAUPPA) page serves two purposes towards total asset management. The first purpose is that it stores AP data, which directly correlates with the Components tab of the FA Update (FAUPAS) page; both pages read from the fa_appo table. Secondly, it displays asset components created through the AP to FA Asset Migration process; the asset's unique FA identification number is assigned along with other details that will migrate into FA Potential Assets page when using the "Create Asset" tool.

This page is specific for using the AP to FA Asset Migration option. To set this up: (1) The "PO to FA interface" on the PO General Information (POUPGN) page must be deactivated (unchecked); and (2) common code POFA/CONTROL2 must have "APOHPA" within the Associated Codes 5 field.

The FA Potential Assets page also displays AP data generated from the "PO to FA Interface" asset migration method. This migration method creates asset records directly from the PO Receiving function within the PO Receiving (POUPRC) page. The assets generated from POUPRC eventually are referenced within this page only to hold AP data since all AP data for purchases tagged with a specific Object Code are recorded within this page, per common code POFA/CONTROL. However, this migration method is not managed within this page; it is only displaying the AP data. Therefore, if using the PO to FA interface, this page can be ignored; the AP OH Direct Update (APOHUPTR) page is more efficient for analyzing AP data than verifying information within FAUPPA. APOHUPTR provides complete AP data while FAUPPA holds details deemed essential for asset management.

All records in the table are initially assigned a status of "NEW" when the record is created. Each invoice line that contains a fixed asset object code will appear as a single record in the page. By default, the page will display only those records with a status of "NEW" or "ON HOLD". Records in other statuses may be viewed using a Find Record operation and entering the appropriate selection criteria. Records may only be viewed in Grid view, but fields within the grid may be resized and reordered in the same manner as other pages. Records in this page are the same items that display in the "Components" tab in the Fixed Assets Update (FAUPAS) page and are stored in the fa_appo table.

To delete a line from the FA Potential Assets page, change the Status to "New", and select the "Delete Record" option from the menu. A message "Record Deleted" will display. Once information is deleted, there is no Undo option to restore the deleted record. When the asset has been created, using the FA Delete Asset IDs (FAUTDE) utility will also delete records from both the FA Potential Assets (FAUPPA) and the FA Update (FAUPAS) pages.

Two essential common codes (POFA/CONTROL and POFA/CONTROL2) can be set up to customize and configure aspects of asset management and depreciation.

Several tools are available to assist with merging multiple records into a single asset, undoing a merge, splitting a record with a quantity greater than one into multiple asset records, undoing a split operation, and creating the asset records. These tools are discussed in more detail in the Tools section of the FAUPPA page help.
