Nucleus Error Codes - NUUPER
The Nucleus Error Codes (NUUPER) page is used primarily to enter descriptions and corrective advice for system detected errors. It is also used as a place to store the text of questions which prompt the user for certain information when interactive dialogue is being conducted. This form is used to enter up to five lines of dialogue which is to be displayed to the user during selected processes. The following describes each field appearing on this form.
ID Code: Up to four characters which identify the particular system to which the error code relates. When entering information that relates to one of the installed subsystems, we suggest that you use the two-character code that uniquely identifies the subsystem. For example, we use NU as the ID Code for errors that are detected by the Nucleus subsystem.
No: The number, from 0-9999, which uniquely identifies the information within the given ID Code. BusinessPLUS uses the following convention for assigning numbers to errors, dialogues and prompts maintained on this form: 01-99 represent system level error numbers, such as those detected by database I/O operations (these are nearly always fatal errors); 100-199 represent errors, dialogue and prompts from interactive processes, 200-299 represent errors detected during processing programs, such as payroll calculation; 300-399 represent errors, dialogue and prompts used during update software which are used to VIEW; 400-499 represent errors, dialogue and prompts used during report printing software; 900-999 represent errors, dialogue and prompts which are used by utility software. Dialogue defined on this form is used more as an incidental dialogue informing the user of some particular abnormal event which has been programmatically detected, such as what to do when you are logged onto a terminal at an unassigned day or time.
Error Description or first line of Dialogue or prompt: Enter up to 70 characters to describe the error. This may represent the first of up to five dialogue lines or a single prompt line.
Nature: A one-character code with the following meaning:
- D - Dialog entry, used for informational purposes only
- F - A Fatal error will cause the currently active process to be aborted abnormally
- I - The message is Ignored
- P - Prompt message for an interactive process
- WA - Warning will be issued
Only a subset of errors can be controlled by their nature code.
Error Corrective Advice or additional lines of Dialogue: Up to four lines of 70 characters each may be entered to contain error corrective advice, additional dialogue or a description of the prompt message.
