Trigger Instance

When testing Workflow models or troubleshooting a particular problem on a Workflow model instance, sometimes it is necessary trigger a Workflow model for an instance record. Normally, this is accomplished by making a change to the table record in question. However, many times the user merely wants to "tickle" the Workflow model without actually making a change to the table record. This is accomplished by triggering the instance within Workflow Designer.

Using the Trigger Instance tool, a new Workflow Queue record (Workflow Request) is created and inserted into the Workflow Queue table. When the Workflow engine wakes up, the Workflow Queue record is processed, the Workflow model instance record is updated to run again, and the Workflow model instance is processed as a data change. This allows the user to validate processing of the Workflow model instance without actually changing any values in the trigger table record.
